Posts: 2 Mar 10 04 6:19 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None OK, this seemed a logical place to post this as Roger wrote both this issue and the Avengers at the time (where it tied in tangentially with the 'Under Siege' story); in AMS 283, Absorbing Man and Titania are sent by Zemo to meet a new member of the Masters of Evil at the airport, but are thwarted by Spider-Man. The new member slinks off on his own in shadow, and all we see are some glowy eyes and razor sharp teeth, though we are promised that one day, he will threaten the life of Spider-Man. Now this was towards the end of Rogers run; my question is: who was this mystery MoE and did he ever resurface (if not, who was he intended to be?) Any ideas?

Posts: 251 Mar 10 04 6:38 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	No, Tom DeFalco wrote AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #283. The last issue of ASM that I scripted was #250. However, Tom and I coordinated events between AVENGERS and ASM so that the Absorbing Man and Titania bounced back and forth between the comics and stayed consistent. (Believe it or not, there was a time when this was common.) I believe that Tom and Ron Frenz intended the mystery villain to be a new Spider-Man foe. But they ran into editorial problems and left the book shortly after that issue. I believe they later used the mystery villain during their run on THOR, but I don't remember who he was. --RS

I haven't read that book in a while (and yet that little question was still bothering me; strange!) and it completely slipped my mind that Tom DeFalco had taken over the reins some time before that - I guess that I just associate you with it as it tied in with the brilliant Masters of Evil storyline over in Avengers, as you say. I have to say that I miss continuity and cross-pollination in books today; it made for a more cohesive universe, and one that was a lot more fun to read. These days, and awful lot of Marvel books seem to operate in their own little bubbles - at least DC still has a sense of the 'shared universe' about it.

Posts: 7 Mar 14 04 3:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm guessing the character is called The Mongoose. He appeared in a DeFalco/Franz Thor issue that also had Spider-Man. A cool villain too. He was very fast, had sharp claws and could spray some sort of knockout gas. I was surprised he wasn't used more often.

Posts: 2 Mar 20 04 2:48 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have those Thor issues and you are probably correct. It would fit the description and is close to the time period. And since he has an animal name would fit in well with most of the other Spider-Man villains. Makes sense.
